Located on the naturally contoured site of Banjara Hills, the proposed guest house is designed to provide comfortable accommodation for High Court judges and court officials. The building is envisioned as a quiet retreat that works with the land rather than against it, adopting a simple sloping form that allows it to nestle into the terrain with minimal intervention.
Drawing inspiration from vernacular practices, the structure makes use of locally available materials and climate-responsive techniques. A landscaped court is incorporated into the layout as a social outdoor space, providing a serene environment for interaction while maintaining a strong connection with the surrounding natural landscape.
The outcome is a dignified yet understated residence, harmoniously integrated with its site, respectful of local traditions, and designed to offer comfort and tranquility for its distinguished guests. We gratefully acknowledge TCA for conceptualizing this initiative and providing major support in engineering and design, which has been instrumental in bringing this project to life.”
Mahima Elanza set out to redefine existing practices and notions of residential apartment design in the city. The core design principle of houses placed around courtyard spaces in vertical towers of stepping form gives the development its unique character. This is also accentuated by large multi-leveled voids in the towers that open up sky views at the lower levels and interconnect the gardens.
