Bee Breeder’s Paris Affordable Housing

Shortlisted Entry Top-50

Bee Breeder’s Paris Affordable Housing Challenge invited participants to design a sustainable solution to the problem of affordable housing in Paris. It did not define a specific location for this architectural competition; therefore, the designs could be versatile enough to be adapted and implemented in many distinct locations and thus increase the capacity of the housing stock of the city. The proposed design, awarded a place in the top 50 designs , reclaimed some of the abundant public green spaces in the city , especially perimeters of cemeteries and parks . It proposes stilted wooden pods in singular and clustered formats to be nestled around tree canopies using sustainable materials. The walling materials are paper tubes, wood and recycled denim and wool for insulation.
